There are eggs in the 'bator

Due to hatch on the 21st. The white ones are White Leghorn/RIR cross and the brown ones are from our Freedom Rangers.

How well do the Rangers lay; is it worthwhile to keep them as layers?

Yes it's very worth while to keep them as layers. Our Freedom Rangers are laying very well. Better than our White Leghorns at the moment! There are 7 hens and we've been getting 5 eggs a day for about 3 months now. Last weekend hubby found a stash of eggs under the front porch so it looks like they're actually all laying an egg a day. I'll have to keep them locked up until noon time to make sure they lay in the nest box. I can honestly say that out of all the chickens I've ever kept the Freedom Rangers are my favorite. They're also very docile. Even the rooster.
