The Cards

I'm not much into playing cards but I came across a small heart stamp I made last year and suddenly had the urge to make a whole deck!

All the numbered cards are done. Now I'm working on the Ace, Jack, Queen, King and Joker.

If the prototype deck turnes out good I may make a limited edition of perhaps 10 packs and put them up on ebay. Who knows, someone out there might consider them a "must have" item!

If you want to learn more about the history of playing cards and see some wonderful custom designs take a look at:

Just about everything you ever wanted to know about playing cards is on this site.

This is the stamp itself along with the knife I used to carve it. Magic Rub erasers are my favorite brand for carving.  Posted by Hello

This is a stamp I carved a few days ago. Inspired by a picture I saw of some wallpaper. The actual wallpaper is held in the Smithsonian I think. Posted by Hello

Welcome

Thanks for stopping by my studio blog: The Inky Spinnery.

I'm an eraser carver. I like to turn common everyday erasers into fine rubber art stamps. When I'm not doing that I'm usually spinning or knitting. So The Inky Spinnery seemed like a good name.

This is my first venture into blogging. I don't have the journaling bug in me at all! I write and re-write and never feel satisfied with what I've put down. But since I love to read other artists blogs and see what they are working on, and since eraser carving is such an obscure form of art I thought that maybe other people would be interested in what I do.

Now I need to figure out how to upload some pictures!
